Forum Revisited

I'm like a terrier with a rabbit on this one and just won't let it go Wink. As mentioned at the village meeting last night, I was minded to rationalise the overly complex village forum and reduce it to a single "space" to chat / advise / sell / observe / evangelise etc. All in the hope that we get more discussion going - so, head on over to the newly revamped forum and get chatting / selling / whatever...

Hello Mark,
Sorry but I find the revamped and simplified Forum just as obscure as the old one. I didn't think I was a complete ninny when it comes to the computer but I do not find Thornhams .org user friendly and would welcome the opportunity to find out how to use it effectively. Are there any other souls in the same boat? If so perhaps we could have an educational session together.

Hi Ian, I'd be more than happy to try and help you and others overcome any difficulties - and thanks for the response.

It's very difficult for me to "see" the reality sometimes so feedback is always welcome. I've been using the web since it first became "public" in 1993 and the internet for many years before that - so I'm somewhat removed from reality when it comes to computers / networks!

So, who else would like help?

I'm afraid I am at sea, too! Can't find any old, familiar stories. Coffee offered against clarification!

PS Now I have found the access to earlier articles (only on Home pages I think) , but not yet pieces on nature or previous offers/requests etc. It does seem to me that there is a case for including a date on each article.

Hi Mark,
I'm afraid I am struggling with the forum as well and I thought I was pretty computer savvy! Personally I would like access to all previous posts irrespective of the time frame. It is made worse for me in that if the site is visited but forum not read, then any posts older than 1 week are not available! Completing the open space survey effectively cleared the post down to the maximum default of 1 week.

Keep up the good work though!

Dave

Thanks for the feedback Dave. You'll be happy to know I've reinstated all old forum posts to the new forums and I've also upgraded the forum software. Hopefully you'll see some improvements...

Let me know if there's anything specific I can help with when you've taken a look at the updated forum (Have Your Say!)...
