Presentation Dinner 2012

 The 2011 season was rounded off in its usual friendly and well organise fashion on Saturday 21^st January 2012 at the Thornham Village Hall. For several years now , we have held this event at various establishments such as Gislingham Six Bells, Diss Park Hotel, Thornham Coach House, Stoke Ash White Horse, Gislingham Village Hall and the Steak House at Diss. Although we have enjoyed all of these venues, and have been satisfied with the service of most, we decided this year to return home to where we started and belong – The Thornham Village Hall!

We had Caterers of course, but not any old caterers, caterers with a growing reputation who certainly did us proud.

The quality and quantity of food was excellent and service was second to none.

There was also some great music provided by two talented guitarists, Gerald Prior and Michael Stevenson who played and sang continuously throughout the meal. They also treated us to an extra 45mins at the end of the evening – thank you Gerald & Michael!

Thanks also to Philip and his helpers for running the bar – in a very cramped space I must say!

 Our Chairlady and chief organiser Madeleine entertained us with a few jokes from a book and recited her latest poem. As usual, this went down very well, although she was being a little cocky in trying to remember the poem off by heart – we’ve all been there!

The main event of the evening was of course the presentation of trophies, a task that I was proud to take on as Club President, ably assisted by my wife Shirley – bless her! There was another reason for me to do the presentation; I didn’t win any myself! At the same time, Laurie Crick received his usual bottle of weed killer (sorry; whisky), and well deserved flowers for Madeleine Crick & Barbara Miller. I did make a comment about Stopping Laurie’s whisky and charging him rent for spending so much time at the green – only joking Laurie!
