Better Broadband

The Government is making big decisions on our behalf about which areas of the UK will benefit most quickly from superfast Broadband.

We need to make sure that Suffolk has its voice heard loud and clear.

Suffolk must be at the top of the agenda when these critical decisions are being made. If they are not, we will fall on the wrong side of a digital divide.

We are calling on everyone in Suffolk, from all walks of life, to give us their support and back the Better Broadband For Suffolk campaign.

Brome Tip

Good News!

In a letter from SCC there is the news that they have decided to delay the closure of 6 of the 7 household waste recycling sites, including Brome, until 31 July 2011. If you have any suggestions as to how this delay can be made permanent please contact Mark Deer, Services Manager at SCC, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Ideas so far from residents include: pay per use, district/parish council funding for site and local recycling projects.

Please make your feelings known; SCC have so far received 8000 letters and opinions from residents and the delay in closures reflects our views

New village sign

sign1.jpg

There is a new village sign on the Gislingham road: whilst we still don't have a speed limit it is hoped the sign will encourage safer driving by those entering the village.  Thanks are due to Cllr. Charles Michell who secured the funding for the new sign.

Refuse Collection - Bank Holidays

We don't believe this affects the Thornhams, but here is a refuse collection update from MSDC. If nothing else, the updated calendar may be useful...

Please note that both refuse and recycling collections will be a day later than usual over the bank holiday weeks in April & May.  Residents are reminded to please put their bins out  by 06.30hrs on the day of collection.

We can also confirm that the crews will be working on Friday 29 April.

Should you have any queries please contact the Refuse hotline on 0845 606
