BOGUS CALLERS WITHIN THE BURY ST EDMUNDS AREA WHO COULD BE ON THEIR WAY TO WHERE YOU LIVE?

Police are warning residents to be aware of bogus callers after a number of reported incidents in Bury St Edmunds.

At around 5.50pm on Wednesday 21 March, a man knocked on the door of an address in Eagle Walk.

The man, described as white, 5'10" tall with black hair, wearing a navy blue top with 'Home Improvements' written on it and navy blue shorts.

The male falsely claimed to be from Havebury Housing and asked for £100 to be paid up front by the resident for work to be done on their guttering.

A similar incident occurred on St Olaves Road on the same day.

Please note that no legitimate housing agency contractors would ask for money up front at your doorstep.

"If you are confronted by such a person, refuse to answer any questions or to hand over money and report the incident to police immediately using the 101 non-emergency number. Try to make a note of any registration numbers if they are driving a vehicle."
