Ride Horses? I've just received a call from the new community watch liason officer (Phil Kemp) and he asked me to pass on some information.... There have been several thefts of horse related kit in the area - in particular, saddles. Obviously saddles cost several hundred pounds and other equipment can soon add up in terms of value, so please keep expensive equipment like this locked up safely - preferably securely at home. It may be somewhat inconvenient to have to take your equipment home or lock it up securely but it'll be more inconvenient to lose it! Click for details ...

1.          LAND BID BY THE RAPHAEL STEINER SCHOOL

Mr S Andrews, Local Plan Manager, Mid Suffolk District Council gave a presentation to the meeting regarding the land bid by the Raphael Steiner School to the Local Development Framework.  The existing school is subject to a temporary planning permission that requires renewing before 2010.  The Council are happy to deal with the renewal but cannot allow the arrangement to continue forever and the longer-term uncertainty over planning prevents proper investment in the school.  To make firm plans for the future the planning position needs to be resolved through the local planning process.  The land bid will cease the need to keep renewing the planning permission for a school on this site.  Questions were asked.    Increased traffic was a concern.   The longer-term reinstatement of the site or future reuse of the site was considered.   There will be no change to the location or size of the site except the access to the highway creating a separate entrance and exit. If the school were to close its rural location would mean that it would be most unlikely that residential use would be acceptable and the site could be returned to its rural nature, as a condition of the planning permission. The issues such as traffic control, junction visibility etc will be considered by Mid Suffolk District Council together with its partners, ie the Police, Highway authority, and Environment Agency.   Claire spoke on behalf of the school and Brian on behalf of the Architects.

The interested parties for the above item left the meeting.
