It’s very naughty of me, but my Wife and I have just had a wonderful week in the north of Scotland, including the Orkney’s and Shetland. Now having a holiday during the bowling season is rather frowned upon, but there, I have done it and I would love to tell you all about it, but there’s a week of reporting to catch up on and it will be very brief.

To start with, the Monday team put another notch in their belt by beating Stowupland away, with Laurie’s rink once again leading the way winning by 13 shots. Alan C’s rink struggled to start with being 10 shots adrift at 8 ends but soon recovered to stay within 5 shots. David C’s rink was nip and tuck all the way and finished all square. David M’s rink also struggled to start with but pulled back to lose by just 1 shot.

On Tuesday 23^rd the Afternoon team were caught napping and lost by 2 shots at Stanton but came away with 2 points. In the evening, the Upper Waveney team travelled to Long Stratton to get beaten by 11 shots and gaining only 1 ½ points.

Wednesday 24^th and the Triples team were more fortunate by going to Elmswell and taking another 6 points to boost their top position in the league. Both Laurie and Alan C’s rinks won comfortably but Colin’s rink stole the show with a 20 shot victory.

On Thursday we had two games again with the Thurlow Shield in the afternoon and the Upper Waveney Plate in the evening. Unfortuneately, we lost both - ahhh! This means that we are out of all but two team cup matches, and one of those, the Bullen Cup was play on the Friday night.

So what happened on the Friday night? Well, Thornham beat Bildeston 91-73, the details of which have been mislaid - you just can’t get the staff! Anyway, we march on to another round of the Bullen Cup, which incidentally we won back in 2003.
