Oil Theft

Thieving scum have stolen the oil from the village hall oil tanks once again. They couldn't take the tank this time but they cut off the lock and took the oil.

We're currently testing a small incendiary device which first sprays the perpetrators with a small dose of petrol and then explodes, setting fire to them, the oil and their vehicles and thus rather effectively dissuading further thefts.

Keep watch over your own supplies and let us know if you'd like to order a "MagnaBomb" to protect your tank.

Maybe a CCTV would do the trick and be slightly less inflammable

Mr Administrator, I really would suggest a little calm in your reactions. Everyone is frustrated, but violence is no solution. Anyway, I think you might discover some insurmountable technical hurdles with the trigger mechanism

Perhaps JWarner's CCTV solution warrants some exploration? The camera part is easy of course - £50 will buy you an adequate weatherproof camera which any one of us could successfully mount. The problem lies in the detection and recording of movement. A suitably equipped PC would do the trick or there are dedicated recorders. The trouble is, it all costs money - and becomes a target for theft itself!
