There has been a new planning application to erect 3 wind turbines on the airfield industrial estate in Eye:

Ref: 0096/10 Three Proposed Wind Turbines, Airfield Industrial Estate, Eye

Erection & operation of 3 Wind Turbine Generators (to a maximum tip height 130m), construction of associated hard standings access tracks & substation compound

Comments required by March 5th

It looks inevitable that the airfield site will be developed and of all the installations we might see there, surely this has got to be one of the least offensive. Granted there will be noise for those close to the site BUT ultimately, IMO, I'd rather have a renewable energy plant there than pretty much any other "industrial development"...

I'm of the same opinion. Mid-Suffolk are under an obligation to develop this site somehow, and wind turbines, though not without their problems too, offer an option that has both energy benefits, and will not be spewing out detrimental fumes, as in the waste incinerator. In time they will become a part of the landscape.

We agree that if there is a choice between wind turbines and an incinerator there is no contest-ANYTHING rather than an incinerator! Incidentally, we had an Email acknowledgement of the letter we wrote about the incinerator and certainly did not get the impression that our comments would not be considered.

I actually like seeing wind turbines rotating and these would not be near houses. I agree with previous comments.
