There has been a new planning application to erect 3 wind turbines on the airfield industrial estate in Eye:

Ref: 0096/10 Three Proposed Wind Turbines, Airfield Industrial Estate, Eye

Erection & operation of 3 Wind Turbine Generators (to a maximum tip height 130m), construction of associated hard standings access tracks & substation compound

Comments required by March 5th

Waste Incinerator: Update

As you know, Suffolk County Council are considering Eye Airfield as a site on which to build, possibly several, waste incinerators. It turns out that we are in the 3rd and final round of "consultations" and most of us only heard about this a couple of weeks ago. The reason why? Suffolk County Council said that they 'did not wish to create paper waste by contacting residents'. Thornham Walks

To all the residents in the Thornhams:

I am sure that most people have heard that Mid Suffolk District Council are cutting their funding to Thornham Walks in order to make savings in their budget.

The situation now is that Mid Suffolk will probably put in a reduced amount of funding (£10K) for the next financial year, with a view to cut all funding the following year.

SAY NO! TO WASTE INCINERATION AT EYE

It seems Eye airfield is now a target for a huge incineration plant. Clearly this affects all of the local parishes, the Thornhams included. The proposed development would mean an illuminated incinerator stack nearly 100m in height, a massive increase in lorry traffic, at least 100,000 tonnes of waste burned per annum, an obvious drop in the quality of air (right next to a school too!) and a general blot on the landscape.
