There seems to be reasonable support for a village help / advice email list so I'll go ahead and create that shortly. The purpose is to provide an email based list that acts as a distribution point for anything of note / interest or for anybody wanting any help or advice. The idea is you that you simply send an email to ' This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ' (without the quotes) and your message will automatically go to everybody on the list.

Thornham Bowls Club

bowlsbadge.jpgHello readers, my name is Alan Roberts, proud Chairman of this wonderful little Bowls Club, situated along the Thornham / Gislingham road opposite Red House and adjacent to the Tennis Court. We have a membership in excess of 40, mostly playing members and many social members. Many come from Gislingham and Thornham, but the majority are spread out in areas like Diss, Scole, Eye, Wickham Skeith, etc, and as far as Long Stratton in one direction and out to Kesgrave in the other direction.

Eye Bach Choir - A Local Institution

The Eye Bach Choir was founded in 1974 by Dr Merlin Channon and his wife, Anne. Its first performance was given in February of that year in Eye Church – Bach’s Motet, Jesu. Priceless Treasure - a piece  which the original members had worked on at their first gathering in Merlin Channon’s house.

In the early years the Choir’s repertoire tended to be centred on baroque and classical music though, with the passage of time, works by Brahms, Verdi , Britten and Vaughan Williams began to feature.

CRIME WAVE IN THE THORNHAMS

The police have notified George Keeley, our Neighourhood Watch officer, that Thornham Magna and Thornham Parva each suffered two break-ins in the past fortnight. A third attempt in Thornham Magna in that period has since been reported. The thieves seem to have been looking for garden / agricultural equipment.

Would anyone who has not reported attacks on their property please contact the police (see contact details on Local Directory page of Thornhams website) and also record it in the Village Forum.
