Sunday 9^th August and another fine day for our Club Pairs Competition. Not the best of turnouts, but sufficient to make up 8 sets of pairs, resulting in an excellent afternoon of some fine bowling. It was decided this year to complete the tournament on the same day, so we played 4 games of 6 ends to determine the two Pairs finalists, who were Mel Norman/Moira Cogdell and Laurie Crick/Rose Terry. We then had tea - more like a banquet really - many thanks to all those who contributed! Then straight into the final, and what a fitting final it was, excitement down to the final end. It was scheduled for 9 ends, but the game finished a tie, so into a decider and that was nail biting up to the last wood with Laurie and Rose holding on to win by 1 shot - congratulations Laurie and Rose, Club Pairs Champions 2009! A special thanks to Laurie for working on the green the instant he returned from holiday to ensure it was ready for the event - I think they must have dropped him off on the way home! Also a thanks to Trevor for running the event and to all those who helped to see the day run smoothly.
