News & Results 2019 – Week 12 (8/7/19 to 14/7/19).

NEWS & RESULTS – 2019 – Week 12 (8/7/19 to 14/7/19)

I start this report with a fixture that was played during the previous week – the Marie Curie! Our stay in this competition was short lived, but a gallant effort by all our ladies, 7 in all, against a strong Combs team. Mo, Ann & David had a wicked first half and found themselves 4- 21 down at the 11th end. But they fought back well and managed to get within 4 shots with 1 end to go, then dropped a 3 – very unlucky!! Joy, Mads & Mel had a hard game against my old workmate – Graham Sheldrake! They did well over the first 6 ends to be 5-3 up, but the Combs trio took over and won by 14 shots. Brenda, Jan & Laurie had a close game but were always those odd shots behind. Trish, Phil & Colin had a poor start and trailed all the way to the 19th when they drew level at 14-14, but the excitement was too much and they dropped 5 shots over the final 2 ends.

News & Results 2019 – Week 11 (1/7/19 to 7/7/19)

NEWS & RESULTS – 2019 – Week 11 (1/7/19 to 7/7/19)

It was another sad day for the Monday 2Wood team, crashing out at the Rookery. I say “crashing out”, it was just the 1 rink that took the blow, that of Mads, Andie & Colin, going down 15 shots to 36. They did get 6 shots over the final 3 ends – to make it look better that 9-36!! Ivan, Mo & Kipp were 2 shots up but lost the last 3 ends to lose by 1 shot and Mike, David & Mel after a good start to be 8-1 up after 5 ends, lost their way in the middle of the game and lost by 5 shots. The point was won by Brenda, Phil & Laurie after a few nervous moments, especially at the 18th when they dropped a 4 to be just 1 shot in front, but they kept their cool and took 5 shots over the final 3 ends.

News & Results 2019 – Week 10 (24/6/19 to 30/6/19)

NEWS & RESULTS – 2019 – Week 10 (24/6/19 to 30/6/19)

Remember in my last report (week 9), I mentioned about the Monday team having a bye and avoiding a thrashing – oh dear! What have I let myself in for?? Just ignore all that and we will settle down and concentrate on the facts.

Monday 24th June and the 2Wood team entertained Woodfield and it seems that’s exactly what they did do – there I go again, sorry!! Brenda, Phil & Laurie made the biggest effort by only losing by 4 shots, and were actually in the lead by 1 shot at the 18th, but then dropped 5 over the final 3 ends. Mo, Geoff & Kipp were in the lead at the 15th, then dropped 3×3’s a 5 and a 1 over the last 6 ends. Mike, David & Mel had their moments and were challenging by the 11th at 10-12 down, but then decided to sit on 10 for the next 9 ends – oh dear!! Please excuse me, but I must take a deep breath before I go on. Right, that’s better, Mads, Andie & Colin came off the blocks in a hurry to go 6-1 in the lead by the 6th end – then it all went wrong and they sat on that 6 for 10 ends – say no more!!!

NEWS & RESULTS – 2019 – Week 9 (17/6/19 to 23/6/19)

I must just mention Sunday 16th – Club Pairs Day. I selfishly had the day off to go to a Barbegue with the family of Jack’s intended – Page! I therefore am unable to write about events, but I can tell you that this years Pairs Champions are – Brenda & Philip – well done.

News & Results 2019 – Week 8 (10/6/19 to 16/6/19)

NEWS & RESULTS – 2019 – Week 8 (10/6/19 to 16/6/19)

We started the week with an exciting day at the races. Yes, following a request by Mid Suffolk, the bowls club opened up the club mid-day on the Monday 10th with the object of tempting local residents in for refreshment and showing them what they are missing by not being a member; at the same time, allowing them to view the Women’s Tour from a prepared site and afterwards, have a roll-up  – if they wish??
